CBM, Chargeable Weight & Carton Planner

Calculate multiple carton lines, compare actual and volumetric weight, test a container allowance, and create one shipment data block for the supplier or forwarder.

Status

No carrier rule is silently pre-filled

Output

CBM/CFT totals, chargeable-weight scenario, CSV and print view

Define the billing assumptions first

A dimensional divisor is a carrier/service input, not a universal constant. Record who confirmed it and when.

1 carton line

Shipment and billing basis

A planning buffer only; it is not a loadability result.

Optional container and freight scenario

Preset values are editable planning references. Verify the actual carrier equipment specification and payload before booking.

Formula, carrier references and update record

The arithmetic is stable. Billing divisors, rate types and equipment values are not, so the tool makes them user-owned inputs.

Formulas used

  • CBM per carton = length cm × width cm × height cm ÷ 1,000,000.
  • Volumetric kg = total cubic centimetres ÷ user-entered cm³/kg divisor.
  • Planning chargeable kg = the greater of actual gross kg and volumetric kg.

Confirm the billing rule

Carrier guidance demonstrates why the divisor cannot be universal: review the current DHL, FedEx and UPS information, then record the rule that applies to the actual quote and service.

Confirm the equipment

Container presets are common planning references only. Check the carrier's actual equipment sheet, including internal dimensions, door opening and payload; Maersk's container overview is one official starting point.
